Mayan Glyph Workshop

September 13 to 19, 2009

The glyphs of the Maya are rich with meaning and one of the vital keys to understanding Maya spirituality and cosmology.  Imbued with majestic mythic significance while also a window to the everyday lives of the Maya, studying the glyphs opens the mind to the ideas and ideals of this great culture.  Spend a week immersed in study of the Mayan language and learn to read the Mayan glyphs with Don Pedro Pablo Chuc Pech.  He is a member of the Mayan Council of Elders and a retired Primary School teacher.  His current work involves preserving Mayan culture and language for students of his pueblo.  To that end he has formed The Academy of Mayan Culture where he is teaching Yucatec Maya, writing in Yucatec Maya, the Mayan Calendar, Mayan numbers and elementary hieroglyphic writing.  Don’t miss this unique opportunity to study with a master.

Portals of the Galactic Maya

January 6 to 19, 2010

Fascinating references are made to portals through which the Maya of the Classic period left the great cities at the completion of the 10th baktun (10.0.0.0.0) around 830 AD.  In Dennis Tedlock’s translation of the Popol Vuh there is a reference to a cord in the sky which connected Coba and several other cities.  And at Coba itself there are references on monuments that speak of just such an umbilicus.  Some say the Galactic Maya are closely connected to the Pleiades—we will also travel to sites with Pleiades alignments.  Join us for this journey of discovery as we try and unravel these mysteries.

Equinox—House of the Sun

March 12–23, 2010

The Maya were great astronomers and the genius of their knowledge lies in their connection with the natural world through long and sustained observation.  Knowing the position of the equinoxes was vitally important and opens the door to a deeper knowledge of the sky which, for the Maya, was alive with animate gods and living legends.  Many of the Mayan monuments are aligned to provide graphic displays of sacred knowledge during the equinox.  We will visit some of these sites, experience the hierophanies, and explore their deeper meanings as a context to unlocking the secrets of the 2012 End Date.
